Singapore to Newark on "Singapore airlines" clocked in at 19 hours, almost a full day in the air. It flew over the polar ice cap to get there. It was grounded because of profitability. The number of seats versus the price of jet fuel. It means the new record holder for the longest time in the air is Atlanta to Johannesburg on "Delta" at a svelte 17 hours.
